Rounds 3 & 4 – Virginia International Raceway

Rounds 3 & 4    *    Virginia International Raceway    *     April 14 – 16

Danville, Virginia – Alex Mayer drove his JDR racecar to back-to-back victories to sweep Race 3 and 4 of the North American Formula 1000 Championship presented by America Racer Tire, Sunoco Fuels, Taylor Engineering, Jongbloed Racing Wheels, George Dean Engines, Rilltech Racing, Wilwood Disc Brakes, Rebel Gear, and Hurley Race Products.

Race 3 on Saturday saw the majority of the race follow the pace car after several cars in the mixed field ended their day in multiple events on lap 2. As a result, polesitter Mayer was never challenged and with the exception of Doug Hertz who passed one car to win the Sunoco Hard Charger award the positions on the track were the same as they were after qualifying.  Shane Prieto took second with Jason Slahor rounding out the podium in third.
